Also, you might want to consider the hex "Spiteful Spirit". It is an elite which can do a tremendous amount of damage over time, which means you can cast it and dedicate your time to a different role while it eats away at them. Seems to fit your original description.

The place to read about the different professions is our Campfire section. It has a subforum for each profession with a stickied basics thread that goes over the plus/minus and better secondaries. Many of them also go over the better builds and explain why they are better.

depending on who's views? yours or the person playing?

i'm not saying that meta builds haven't been good, hell i even tried most meta builds just to see what was so good about them. but i am into actual gameplay, thus using sabway/discordway/whatever other metas are out there are quite dull and boring to me cuz all i have to do is basically c-space my heroes do the rest.

but seriously is this what GW has been thinned out to be? use X build to beat game, rinse, repeat..... new meta, use this build, rinse, repeat

what happened to people actually having fun? one of the things i love about playing this game is the various builds that can be made because of the many classes and skills within each class. apparently that has been dumbed down to what 8-15 skills per class as usable? only to people that have no imagination. the game should never have been about speed, its about gameplay and having fun, and apparently you elitists have lost touch with that

Most threads tend to show off the two schools of thought when it comes to game play.

1 this looks like fun I will try it out

2 This is the most efficient way to kill anything in the game.

I use both 1 is for general play 2 is for when I want to achieve something quickly.

I have no problem with people using any build they want when they don't play with me. But if they want to play together, I would generally kinda appreciate it if they actually pulled some weight.

I often help a friend, I get along her very well, but DAMN it took a long time to get her to stop lugging Defy pain around in a non-tank+spike setting...

You know you can change your secondary and skills completely, right? You're not stuck being a N/W who dies in melee or a W/N constantly hitting 0 energy.

If you want to bash someone's face in physically, and add some spell damage to it, you are better of making a Dervish in Nightfall.

That's true. I didn't think about paying to change my profession. I guess I'm set in my ways, but I'll keep it in mind for the future if need be.
